On October 11, 2011, Mayor Xia Lihua met in the Jiuhao Hotel with the Quatre Bornes Municipal Delegation from the Republic of Mauritius headed by Mayor Ariane Oxenham, who is currently visiting Daqing with the Chief Executive and three councilors of Quatre Bornes City.
On behalf of Daqing Municipality, Mayor Xia Lihua extended a warm welcome to the delegation and expressed her wishes of strengthening friendship and broadening the exchanges between Daqing and Quatre Bornes. Xia told the delegation that along with the steady development of oil and petrochemical industries, new areas such as auto manufacturing, new materials, modern agriculture and modern service are growing dynamically in Daqing. Daqing’s urban infrastructure has been improved constantly and exchanges with foreign countries broadened. Daqing is also striving to make itself a tourism destination with unique characteristics.
Xia said, Mauritius is a brilliant pearl in the Indian Ocean and Quatre Bornes plays an important role in Mauritius. After the formal establishment of twinning relationship between Daqing and Quatre Bornes, the ties have been strengthened. From Daqing side, we want to enhance the collaboration and exchanges with Quatre Bornes, especially in urban management, construction and tourism.
Mayor Oxenham thanked Mayor Xia for her hospitality and welcome, saying that Daqing is a well-developed, very clean and beautiful city. Quatre Bornes hopes to find more ways to cooperate with Daqing such as carbon emission reduction and urban management.

On October 12, Mr. Zhan Yunting, Chairperson of Daqing People’s Congress met with the Delegation in the Congress building.
Prior to coming to Daqing, the Delegation paid a courtesy call to Heilongjiang People’s Congress and was met by Ms. Fu Fengchun, Vice Chairperson of the Congress on October 10. On the same day, the Delegation was hosted by Mr. Zhao Erli, Director General of Heilongjiang Foreign Affairs Office.
